With Somalia’s regional football tournament for peace and development underway in the relatively calm state of Puntland, the regions of Bari and Mudug have gained victories over their opponents during matches held on Monday afternoon.

In the first match boys from the central Somali region of Mudug defeated their western Gedo rivals by one nil making Gedo the second region to be eliminated from the tournament.

International football referee Abdi Abdulle Ahmed (Baasaale) has officiated the match while his 1st and 2nd assistants were International referee Ali Mohamed Ahmed and Fu’aad.

The fourth official was Muktar Moalim Yusuf, while Mohamed Hajji served as the match commissioner.

Mean while, footballers from the coastal region of Bari have badly humiliated their rivals from the western Bakool region by four goals to nothing in what was described as the most populous match since the tournament commenced last week.

This defeat is said to be the biggest failure that a region encounters from its opponent since the beginning of the regional soccer tourney. The Bari region is currently leading the tournament and it is foreseen by many that the beautiful trophy will be taken to the city of Bosasso which is the region’s capital.

The match commissioner Abdullahi Awow Hussein told reporters that today’s contest between Bari and Bakool regions was the most polite match to be held since last week.

International referee Mohamed Hassan Fiidow was mediating the match, while Salah Omar Abokar him self an international referee and Abdullahi Osman Hajji (Galey) were his assistant referees.
