Horizon
Djibouti FC has finished in the second place and both the University team and
Horizon Djibouti will play in the country’s division A league next year. Djibouti University FC accumulated 40 points,
while Horizon Djibouti FC left with 34 points from 18 matches played during the
months-long competition.
A trophy
plus 25 gold medals were presented to the players of Djibouti University for
winning the trophy, while the second place team received a trophy and 25 silver
medals for securing the second place and promoting to the division A league.
According
to the past history of football in Djibouti, it was the first time that
Djibouti FA organized the division A, Division B and Division C championships
plus women’s tournament, youth competition and professional beach soccer
championship in the same period.
Implementing
such hard tasks throughout the country was part of the promises made by the
current president Mr. Souleiman Hassan Waberi in his first post election
address on the 10th of November last year.
Meanwhile,
the 3rd division league and the women’s football tournament are
still under way and are expected to complete by the end of the month. Also
youth tournaments and schools competition are underway.
This is for
the first time in history that Djibouti is holding such number of football competitions
across the country. The competitions made the country the busiest ever as where
ever you go in the country you can see competitions taking place. Both youths
and elderly people including women are also talking about the different competitions
at bars, on busses and elsewhere in the country. You can see this is something
new to them.
