Somalia lost a long time serving Futsal referee

Somali football federation has confirmed the sudden death of international Futsal referee Mohamed Farah Mohyaddin who died from a heart attack on Friday evening.


The SFF said in a press statement on Saturday that the late international Futsal referee has been working in the field of refereeing since 1988 and was one of the referees who had played a big role in the early 1993 RESTORE HOPE TOURNAMENT which destroyed the green line that once divided Somali capital into two parts each controlled a hostile warlord.

The statements aid that a three day period of mourning has been announced at the Somali Football Federation headquarters. The mourning starts from today Saturday, according to the statement.

“He was a great colleague of mine, Mohamed and I joined Somali football referees at the same time in 1988—we spent a good time together , but unfortunately I missed my great colleague” former international football referee and current head of Somali Football referees’ development office Abdi Abdulle Ahmed told the media on Saturday morning.

According to the SFF statement a book of condolence has been opened at its headquarters in Mogadishu where hundreds of fans, referees, players, SFF authorities and other well wishers have registered to offer their condolence since early morning on Saturday.
