A football competition named after “The peace reviving tournament in Somalia” which has been under way at the open ground of Somali policy academy for the past several weeks has now reached to its finals.

On Thursday Elman FC one of the strongest football Clubs in
Somalia crashed SITT by a goal to nothing to make it to the final of the tourney which commenced on October 6.

President of Somali Football Federation Said Mahmoud Nur, his deputy Abdullahi Abow Hussein and other dignitaries were watching today’s hotly-contested game.

Talking to reporters at the stadium, president Said Mahmoud Nur said that the importance of this tournament was to encourage peace in Somalia through football.

“Football is peace, so we want to reintroduce peace into the war-devastated country though Football for peace programs” the Somali Football Federation President told reporters.

“There is no peace in Somalia, but that doesn’t mean that football will stop and instead we will continue the good job we are doing whatever it takes to us” the SFF president added.

Somalia hasn’t had a functioning central government for the past two decades during which all the country’s infrastructures were completely destroyed, but football has been Somalia’s flag carrier and succeeded to raise Somali flag over the international football gatherings since then.
