The 24 member-delegation is due in Dar es Salaam on 16thof July, at 2am east African time. "Somali Football Federation has facilitated all necessary
travel arrangements for our delegation including tickets, as agreed in previous
CECAFA meetings in Nairobi, Cairo and Zurich” Somali FA Media and
communications manager, Shafi’i Mohyaddin Abokar, said in a press statement on
Saturday.
"Since they confirmed their league title at the end of the season, Heegan have been engaged in daily training sessions at Stadium Banadir in preparations for the upcoming CECAFA Club tournament” SFF Media and communications manager, noted in his statement adding that the team’s training sessions will end on Sunday.
"We facilitated everything for the team to ensure their
participation of the competition, because Somalia had never missed a single
CECAFA competition and we want to keep that record alive” SFF Media and
communications manager, Shafi’i Mohyaddin Abokar, emphasized in his press
statement.
Founded in 1950, Heegan won their first Somali Football
league title in 1954 before they disappeared. But the old club was revived on
28th of May 2009 and they lifted their second league title in
history six years after their revival.
Several foreign professionals are part of the team.
Former AFC Leopards and Sofapaka FC defender, Harry Gentle Frank (Nigeria) is
one of them.
