Ocean stars beat Tanzania goal to nil

Somali national football squad nicknamed as Ocean stars which is participating in the 10-nation CECAFA senior challenge cup on Saturday defeated its Tanzanian rival goal to nothing during a hotly contested game at the Nakivubo football stadium in Ugandan Capital Campala.


Isse Abshir the nation’s most renowned football striker scored the winning goal for
Somalia in the 13th minute of the first half of the game.

 

Somali football federation deputy vice president and the leader of Somali Delegation Ahmed Nur Hassan Abdulle said  that  Somalia will  on Monday face Rwanda and Uganda on Wednesday.

 

Somalia was beaten by Zanzibar two to nil and so Rwanda by Uganda four to nothing.

 

“The game was very interesting and Somalia showed fair lay and high tactics that was admired by all CECAFA dignitaries who watched the hot game we have had with Tanzania” he added.

 

Somali national football team coach Abdi Farah Ali affectionately known as Geela for his part said that he has more confident in his players and hopes success in the upcoming games although he describes Uganda as a very strong team facing his Ocean stars.

 

At least 3,000 jubilant Somali spectators dressing in the clothes made of the Somali flag occupied the Nakivubo football stadium in the Somali populated area west of Ugandan capital campala.
