FIFA Refereeing course gets under way in Djibouti

Some 27 Football Referees have on Saturday sat for a high profile FIFA training course in Djibouti, as part of FIFA/ FDF joint efforts to increase the quality and quantity of the football growing country's football referees.


The 5-day course which was launched on Saturday 15thof March 2014 is being conducted by FIFA refereeing experts Mr. Lim (technical instructor) and Boubakar Hannachi (Fitness instructor) and has brought together the nation’s most elite referees to update them with the latest on football rules and laws of the game.

Some four local instructors both Fitness and technical instructors will be assisting the FIFA experts during the course. 



The head instructor Mr. Lim who addressed at the launching ceremony of the course said that for the next five days there will be a marathon job including theory and practical sessions urging the trainees to buckle themselves down to acquire more knowledge and experience during the FIFA level course. 
On the behalf of FIFA he thanked the Djiboutian football federation for the high profile reception they extended to him and his colleague Hannachi.

The Djibouti Football federation President Mr. Souleiman Hassan Waberi who finally addressed at Saturday’s opening ceremony of the training course thanked President Joseph S. Blatter of FIFA and his committee for the constant support that the world football body has been extending to Djibouti FA to help it promote football throughout the nation.

"I would like to welcome the FIFA instructors Mr Lim and Boubakar Hannachi who are our friends and had taught our referees earlier---I would say that you are here with your family of football and we are committed to do everything to make your stay in Djibouti more enjoyable” President Souleiman Hassan Waberi said in his opening remarks.

He said that the high level refereeing course was part of his federation’s policy to develop the refereeing sector which is much more important for the federation. The president noted that the holding of such courses was also part of a special development program he had set up after he came to power on the 10th of November 2012 in a bid to have talented referees with more knowledge and experience.

"I urge you (participants) to demonstrate your attendance and show commitment during these 5 days of hard work to benefit from your instructors who came from far distances to help you get more knowledge” President Souleiman told the trainees during the opening ceremony.

"I cannot conclude my address without mentioning the support we always receive from the State Secretary for Youth and Sports in all our actions---My gratitude also goes to the President of the Republic his excellence Ismael Omar Guelleh who gave more priority to the promote sport in the country and in particularly the football” President Souleiman Hassan Waberi noted in his opening remarks at Saturday’s opening ceremony of the FIFA level refereeing course for Djibouti.
