The late Witig was born in Mogadishu’s Wardhigley neighbourhood in 1940 where
he lived since he died on Saturday morning 27th of July 2013. He was
respected as one of the country’s strongest national team members from early
1960s until his retirement in 1976.
"With the announcement of the death of Abdullahi Emli warsame (Witig) Somalia’s football family has really missed another great football personality we pray to Allah to rest his life in the Paradise Fardowsa” said Somali Football Federation President Ali Said Guled Roble during funeral session on Saturday.
"On the behalf of Somali Football Family I am sending our heart-felt
sympathy to the family members, friends and the entire Somali people for the
loss of such great football personality, whose passing away comes in less than
a month after we have lost another legend Nur Abdi Haji” Somali Football
Federation President Ali Said Guled Roble himself a renowned legend told the
media.
The late Warsame was the brother of Former Somali International referee
Haji Abdi Elmi Warsame who died at a Kuala lumpur hospital on the 6thof September 2012 and was buried in Mogadishu days later.
The book of condolence was launched at Somali Football Federation head
quarters where hundreds of football fans and family members have signed so far
to deliver their condolences.
