The Djibouti Football Federation has given a generous donation of different kinds of equipment to 8 women's football teams in the country, as Djibouti is under huge preparations for the upcoming women football tournament. The league will be the first of its kind to be organized in Djibouti for years.

Giving moral support to women footballers and the organization of women’s football league is part of the struggle by President Souleiman Hassan Waberi and his executive committee to revive women football in the country after years of absence of a stronger women’s football involvement in Djibouti.

The donation was jointly presented to the captains of 8 women’s football teams by Djibouti FA’s women football committee chair person Koureicha Ali Guedi along with President Souleiman Hassan and Ahmed El Shenawi from FIFA RDO in Cairo who is currently in Djibouti for the Somali refereeing course.

On behalf of FIFA Mr. El Shenawi praised president Souleiman for fulfilling his previous pledges of reviving women football, grassroots and regional football tourneys. "I confirm that there is a real development of football in Djibouti and I will deliver such message to the world of football” Mr. El Shenawi told the equipment presentation ceremony On Tuesday.

"These teams are in preparations for participating in the 2013 women’s football championship in Djibouti, we have been putting a great deal of efforts to reviving women football and as well as the grassroots development program since we were elected to office last November, so this is to present what we have done to the world football governing body FIFA and to our people too” president Souleiman Hassan Waberi noted during his address at the equipment presentation ceremony Tuesday.

"Our objective is to help our women fully participate and play their role in the promotion of football in Djibouti—that included in my previous promises and also in the documents I delivered to FIFA and CAF during my recent trips to Zurich and Cairo” the president emphasized.

Football-loving people in Djibouti are fully admired at the young age president’s dedication and commitment to football in the country. "Our president is well experienced in football, nearly 10 years he has been serving as FIFA commissioner and CAF referee instructor—also for the past 16 years he has been the most active man in Djibouti football and with his knowledge and commitment we hope football in Djibouti will fully grow” CDE/ Colas FC secretary General Aden Ahmed Miguil told the media.
