Banaadir defeats Elman by 1-0

The defending champions, Banaadir Telecom on Friday afternoon gave Elman FC a one nil defeated, the first failure it suffers since Somalia’s 2010-2011 division one soccer championship resumed in the capital in January.

Friday’s match was the last game of the 1^st leg for both teams and for Elman FC it could have been a record of being unbeaten if it were successful in the match, but that didn’t happen and it suffered its first defeat since January 21^st.

Today’s match was like do or die for Elman who wanted to win and end the first leg of the tournament unbeaten, but it missed that golden chance after Banaadir Telecom’s Striker Adil Nur Ali put into Elman’s goal in the 90^th minute of the match.

Before the match kicked off the first vice president of Somali Football Federation Ali Said Guled Rooble urged both teams to show fair play and exhibit good performance to the thousands of spectators who came to the stadium to enjoy the game.

“As known in the history of Somali Football, we have always beaten Elman and this is what I have already been expecting—I am very grateful to my boys” Banaadir Telecom’s second coach Abdirahman Moalim Ahmed {Taree} told a post match press conference.

“Although we have lost many golden opportunities in the early days of the championship, then I am very hopeful that we are on the way of recovering from the past wounds” the young coach told reporters.

The match attracted the eyes of thousands including the president of Somali National Olympic committee Aden Hajji Yeberow and Somali Football Federation first vice president Ali Said Guled Rooble.

The match was officiated by former international referee Abdi Abdulle Ahmed {Baasaale} who mostly officiates such hot games and assisted by Osman Abdi Osman and Qasim Sheik Mahmoud, while former international referee Hassan Sheylilah Adde was the match commissioner.
