Somali Football federation has organized a luncheon to honour former National team member Ahmed Abas Busuri who has recently returned home after nearly 25 years of living in exile in the United States.

The luncheon was held at the Lido Sea food Restaurant in the Lid beach resort of Mogadishu where most of the sporting events in the country are held. The congregation was mainly intended to pray for the disabled former star Ahmed Abas who became paralyzed in a car accident in the United States.

"This is not only a luncheon, but it is also a prayer session for our colleague Ahmed Abas who is on a wheel chair and we pray to Allah to give him sudden recovery from the long-existed disability” Somali Football federation Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab told Wednesday’s prayer session in Mogadishu.

Somali Football Federation President Ali Said Guled Roble told the prayer session that Ahmed Abas was a well known footballer and was a key member in the National team in 1980s.

"The SFF will always be standing alongside everyone who had contributed to the promotion of Somali Football such as local league players or national team members—we are really very happy to sit with Ahmed Abas and hold such prayer session for him” President Ali Said Guled Roble noted.

For his part Haji Mohamed Ahmed Olow, one of Somalia’s best players in 1960s and current Somali NOC executive committee member said he was very pleased that the country’s football federation was organizing such precious event for former footballers.

"Such event is a great encouragement and it is sending a big message to the current players who will understand that they will always be remembered even after they have retired” Somali NOC executive committee member and former Ocean stars playmaker Haji Mohamed Ahmed Olow explained.
