The luncheon was held at the Lido Sea food Restaurant in
the Lid beach resort of Mogadishu where most of the sporting events in the
country are held. The congregation was mainly intended to pray for the disabled
former star Ahmed Abas who became paralyzed in a car accident in the United
States.
"This is not only a luncheon, but it is also a prayer
session for our colleague Ahmed Abas who is on a wheel chair and we pray to
Allah to give him sudden recovery from the long-existed disability” Somali
Football federation Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab told Wednesday’s
prayer session in Mogadishu.

told the prayer session that Ahmed Abas was a well known footballer and was a
key member in the National team in 1980s.
"The SFF will always be standing alongside everyone who
had contributed to the promotion of Somali Football such as local league
players or national team members—we are really very happy to sit with Ahmed
Abas and hold such prayer session for him” President Ali Said Guled Roble
noted.
For his part Haji Mohamed Ahmed Olow, one of Somalia’s
best players in 1960s and current Somali NOC executive committee member said he
was very pleased that the country’s football federation was organizing such
precious event for former footballers.
"Such event is a great encouragement and it is sending a
big message to the current players who will understand that they will always be
remembered even after they have retired” Somali NOC executive committee member
and former Ocean stars playmaker Haji Mohamed Ahmed Olow explained.
High profile Somali Sporting officials attended Wednesday’s
prayer session. They include: SFF executive committee members, Somali Handball
federation President Mohamed Hurshe Hassan, SFF technical director Awil Ismail
Mohamed, Ocean stars coach Mohamed Abdulle Farayare, division ‘A’ club
authorities and Key players.
