"Football refereeing is my number
one favourite, so since I returned from the job both internationally and
locally, I would like still to be in the field of refereeing industry, but this
time not as a match judge and instead I hope to serve for my country as a
referee instructor” the retired Somali international football assistant referee
Abdirahman Abdi Omar "Shurie” said in a letter he sent to Somali Football
Federation on Thursday.
"This is to inform you that, following years
(1996 - 2013) of being football referee at both local and international level
during which I had experienced a beautiful era in the field of refereeing, it
was a job I liked since my childhood and by virtue of that I am still very much
interested to be working as a football volunteer as a referee instructor” the
former International football Assistant referee said in his letter to Somali
Football federation.
He also mentioned in his
letter that from today 16th of January 2014, he decided to retire even
from the national level which means he will no longer be officiating local
matches and instead will weight to be instructor to help educate young people
who are willing to be referees in the country.
"I hereby request the honourable
football federation authorities to allow me to turn to (my plan B) ‘the Somali
Football Referees instructor section’ to again test my sports expertise in this
regard. I hope that this request will positively be accepted” said the retired
International football assistant referee Abdirahman Abdi Omar " Shurie " who is
respected here as one of the most active individuals who were fully committed
