CECAFA shocked by Somali suicide attack which killed scores and wounded senior SFF official

The council of east and central African football associations ‘CECAFA’ has been shocked by the suicide attack in Somalia which killed over hundred people mainly students and wounded nearly 200 others including Somali Football Federation secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab and national team member Abdullahi Isse Mahmoud.

Mogadishu when most people thought the situation was getting better. Please pass my condolences to the families who have lost their friends and relatives in this brutal suicide attack” the CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye said in a letter he sent to Somali Football Media Department.

 

“We are always with you in this very difficulty situation and we hope that Somalia will once enjoy in peaceful time and prosperity” Mr. Musoney added in his letter to Somali FA.

 

Somali Football Federation authorities including the president Said Mahmoud Nur, his deputy Ali Said Guled Roble and Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab were in a meeting with Galmudug regional state representatives in the nearby Sahafi hotel when a large explosion rocked the whole area.

 

Both sides were disusing on some football development courses due to be held in the semiautonomous regional state by the end of the month.

 

The suicide attacker driving a lorry full of explosives targeted the ministry of education where hundreds of students were waiting for the results of their examination for Turkish scholarship.
