Somali Football Federation president Said Mahmoud Nur addressed both teams before the match kicked off and urged to show fair play during the hotly-contested clash which attracted the attention of more thousands of spectators.
“Most of you are national team members and we want you to exhibit well and don’t act as beginners—your fans are waiting from you to show good performance”
Elman celebrated for the lone goal in the 33rd minute of the first half after its striker Yakub Osman put into the opposite goal and the match ended in 1-0 in favor of Elman who also won the one-day cup allocated to remember former Somali international assistant referee Abdi Abdullahi Alasow who was killed in Mogadishu on April 4 2008.
Elman is currently leading the Somali championship with 27 points. The next team SITT has 20 point while the defending champions Banaadir Telecom are in the 3rd place with 17 points.
