Elman humiliates Heegan by 4-0

Elman Football club on Thursday gave the police club ‘Heegan’ a four nil defeat in what was described the hottest match of the on going first division Somali Football club since it resumed in Mogadishu on January the 1st.


This was the first defeat for the police club and also the worst that such strong club meets since the championship was restarted in the capital last month.

 

The first half of the match ended in 0-0, but Elman FC and national team striker Abdi Aziz Mohamed Ali scored the first goal for his team in the 50th minute of the second half. Heegan boys tried their best and launched more attacks on the opposite goal, but their attempts ended in smoke after Amin Rufa’i Ahmed of Elman put into Heegan’s goal and made the match 2-0 six minutes after the first goal was scored and that was in the 56th minute.

 

Elman launched successive attacks on Heegan’s goal and as the result in the 66th minute of the second half striker Abdullaahi Yusuf Osman scored the 3rd goal for his team, while Abdi Aziz Mohamed Ali signed the 4th goal for his Elman FC in the 83rd minute of the second half and the match ended in 4-0 in favor of Elman Football club.

 

Striker Abdi Aziz Mohamed Ali is currently leading the goal scoring contest with 6 goals, while Abdulkadir Mohiyadin of the Somali military club ‘Horseed’ is running after him with 5 goals. According to Somali Football Federation secretary General Abdi Qani said Arab the top goal scorer of the tournament will be awarded with cash and other valuable awards.

 

Hours before Thursday’s match kicked off hundreds of police men were deployed in and outside the stadium to protect violence since the biggest number of fans yet to be seen were ready at the political science stadium approximately four hours before kick off.

 

The long-awaited match attracted more than 40,000 spectators--the biggest number to watch a football game in Somalia for the past several years. Also high level  sports and Somali government officials including Somali NOC president Aden Hajji yeberow, Somali Football Federation President Said Mahmoud Nur, his deputies Ali Said Guled Rooble and Abdullaahi Abow Hussein and as well as the director General of Somali youth and sports ministry were among the jubilant spectators at the stadium on Thursday afternoon.

 

During the hotly-contested game, five players from both teams were given the below cautions.
