Morocco's Abdellatif Salef appointed as Somalia's coach on two-year contract

Abdellatif Salef, a Moroccan national has today been officially appointed as the head coach for Somali National Football Team on two-year deal.

Talking to the media at the SFF headquarters, Somali Football Federation General Secretary, Yusuf Muhudin, welcomed the new Ocean Stars manager to Somalia on behalf of the SFF president and his executive committee.

"I would like to welcome you to Somalia. You will take charge of Ocean Stars from Under 20 to senior national team and we are expecting you to produce good results” SFF general Secretary told a press conference after the appointment of the new head coach, adding that the manager’s technical staff will arrive in the country soon. The new coach was unveiled today at Somali Football Federation headquarters.

Meanwhile, Ocean Stars new manager Abdellatif Salef, thanked Somali Football Federation authorities for giving him such a great opportunity to lead Ocean Stars.

"Somalia is a football nation. Since my arrival in Mogadishu, I have always seen children playing on the streets of Mogadishu, so it shows that Somalia is a football-mad country” the coach said. The new coach is expected to start his new assignment when he leads the Ocean Stars in the preliminary match of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 against Oman on June 20th. He will also lead the Somalia team in the 2021 CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup to July 3-18th in Ethiopia.
