Somali Football Federation has on Thursday June 6, sent three youthful footballers to Moscow, Russia, where they will take part in the Football for Friendship event.

Somalia’s delegation is led by Somali Football Federation member, Yusuf Hussein Moumin, while the three youthful players are, Abdirahman Mohamud Jama, Abdullahi Ali Hassan and Zakaria Ahmed Mohamed. The trio were part of the Somali U-17 football squad who wrote history after taking the country to its first ever CECAFA event final last month.

The F4F event will unite children from 211 FIFA-member countries and will take place in Russia on 8-15 June 2018. The Football for friendship event is an international social gathering for children from around the world which is implemented by Gazprom Company, this year’s official partner of FIFA World Cup Russia, 2018.

The main aim of the F4F program is to bring together young people from around the world in promoting friendship, peace, equality, cultural integration and respect amongst them.

Somali Football Federation senior vice president, Ali Abdi Mohamed, who sent off the Somalia delegation on Thursday, said that this program will give the youthful boys the opportunity to introduce each other and create friendship through football, adding that for Somalia the participation of the F4F program has another great importance.

"Somalia has never competed in a FIFA World Cup, so these teenagers are the luckiest Somalis, because they will have the opportunity to see and learn how FIFA World Cup environment looks like. They will gain more knowledge and experience from the F4F program” Somali Football Federation senior vice president, Ali Abdi Mohamed, told the media before sending off the Somalia delegation.
