Somali football federation has over the weekend launched a training program for young men aged between 14-16 years as part of Somali football federation’s annual schedule to create professional young footballers to defend the country’s flag in future football games.

Somali football federation deputy secretary General Hassan Mohamed Mahmoud “Farey” who talked to reporters at SFF’s headquarters on Monday said that his federation opened 6 training centers in the capital, each of them holding 40 young men.

“We have now succeeded to commence the first face of our youth training program in the capital and it is on our schedule to open other six training camps in the regions about four months later” the SFF’s deputy secretary general added.

Mr. Hassan farey stated said that the training program will last for three years and there will be examination in every four months to evaluate how the young footballers are developing day by day.

“The young men have good future in football and we are very hopeful that they will score a tangible success in the future CAF and CECAFA under 17, under 19 and under 20 competitions” the deputy secretary general said once again.

This is the first time in history that Somali football federation establishes soccer training centers to encamp young people as part of the nation’s football development program.

Somalia has been without a functioning government for the last 18 years during which the country’s national institutions completely devastated while sporting federations of which football is the major were still alive and representing the lawless nation in international sporting events.
