CECAFA secretary General Nicholas Musonye who wrote to
Somali Football Federation noted that peace in Somalia was encouraging the
regional body to take one of its youth competitions to Mogadishu in the soonest
time.
"Dear
SFF Secretary General, this is a wonderful and excellent work you are doing for Somalia, I am
pleased to note that you have brought the youth of Somalia together through
football” CECAFA secretary General Nicholas Musonye said in a letter he sent to
Somali Football Federation Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab on Wednesday.
"I want to encourage you to continue doing such very professional work,
that so far helped Somali youths come together and forget the past wounds
caused by the long-running lawlessness in Somalia---as I believe we shall be
able to come to Somalia as CECAFA family for one of the youth competitions very
soon” indicated CECAFA secretary General Mr. Nicholas Musonye who was in the
past seen as an icon for the search of peace and stability in Somalia through
football for peace programs.
This is the 3rd time in this year alone that Mr. Nicholas
Musonye is announcing that he was fully appreciating in taking CECAFA competitions
to Somalia to try to turn the world’s attention to the CECAFA-member nation to
help it heal the damages from one of the world’s most notorious anarchy and
wars what lasted more than two decades.
"I want you to communicate my sincere appreciation to the top leadership
of Somalia for supporting your programmes and more especially HE the President
of Somalia Professor Hassan Sheik Mahmoud for attending your match on Tuesday—I
would like to ask Somali football Federation to convey my greetings and best
wishes to the president of the Nation of Somalia” CECAFA Secretary General Mr.
Nicholas Musonye said in his letter to Somali Football Federation.
On the behalf of the east and central Africa regional football governing
body, Mr Nicholas Musonye noted that CECAFA was very much appreciating Somali
president’s announcement that he will support and encourage football in his
country.
"The president’s speech was a testament that the leadership of Somalia recognises the power of football as a tool to bring the people of this beautiful country together. Kindly continue with your great programmes and many thanks for keeping the world updated of your activities” CECAFA secretary General Mr. Nicholas Musonye said in his letter he sent to Somali Football Federation which also carried a message of greeting and appreciation for Somalia’s president Professor Hassan Sheik Mahmoud.
