Somali Football Federation Secretary General Abdi Qani
Said Arab who was in December 2011 appointed by FIFA as a member of its beach
soccer committee will be one of the key figures selected to manage the 2013
FIFA beach soccer world cup slated in Tahiti for September 18-28.
"This is a great move forward and it is a clear signal
for the revival of Somalia’s publicity among the world football after the world’s
football governing body gave Farah Addo a 10-year ban nearly a decade ago—now we
are back on the platform and that is a great encouragement for the entire
people of Somalia” Somali Football federation Chief media officer and CECAFA
media committee member Shafi’i Mohyaddin Abokar said in a press statement here
in Mogadishu on Friday morning.
"Abdi Qani is a very active man and so far has had a great
influence in the East and Central Africa football, he is one of the most hard-working
young people whose activities in such lawless country had already cheered the
president of FIFA Mr. Joseph S Blatter” the SFF chief media officer noted in
his press statement Friday.
Somalia has already had more members in the committees of
the confederation of African football and the council of east and central
Africa football associations (CEAFA). Mr.
Abdi Qani Said Arab who has been playing a very great role in the promotion of
Somali Football for the past twenty years is respected here as one of the key
figures who devoted themselves to the continuation of football in a country was
the most populous sporting event was totally banned termed as a "satanic”
during the Islamic rule in Somalia in 2006.
