Mr. Farah Addo has unexpectedly died on Wednesday night at about 10:30PM east African Time and his body will remain in Cairo before taken to Mogadishu for funeral, relatives and Somali Olympic committee members said on Thursday.

In 1978 Farah Ado was elected as the Somali football federation president and after the downfall of former Somali military rule in 1991 Mr. Farah Addo was a leading figure of Somali sports reviving committee formed in 1992 and then he was re-elected as Somali National Olympic committee and Somali football federation president.
In January 2000 Farah Ado was elected as the first vice president of Confederation of African Football, defeating his Kenyan opponent by 47-4.
In 2004 The International football governing body FIFA fined and suspended Mr. Addo from taking part in all football-related activities in and outside
In April this year FIFA president sepp Blatter lifted the ten-year ban on former Somali football chief and first vice president of Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Meanwhile, Somali Olympic committee has opened the condolence book at the Somali NOC headquarters where thousands of agonized sporting individuals registered to deliver their condolence messages since early on Thursday morning.
“Farah was our leader and was the one who helped to revive Somali sports from destruction early in 1990s when the whole country was plunged into anarchy and disorder” said Somali NOC first vice president Aden Hajji Yabarow popularly know as Wiish who was addressing to hundreds of people who attended the mourning congregation early on Thursday morning at Somali NOC headquarters.
Mr. Wiish announced that the funeral service of the late Farah Addo will be held in Somali capital Mogadishu On Modany.
Somali Olympic committee vice president of International relations Duran Ahmed Farah who is currently in abroad took part the mourning ceremony via phone and called Farah Addo as “Somali sports reviver”
“We will hold a national burial service for Farah Addo” Mr. Duran Farah added during his via phone address at the mourning congregation early on the day.
