Somali football stars tourney fixtures revealed

The Somali Football Federation has announced the fixtures of the country's football starts tournament during a conference at the SFF headquarters in the capital Mogadishu on Saturday morning.


SFF executive committee member and competitions department chief Ali Abdi Mohamed (Ali Shine) who made the announcement said that the SFF was giving more priority to the stars tournament since they are hunting the last selection of national team members from the competition which is due to kick off in Mogadishu by the end of the month.

"The players who will take part in the stars tournament are those who were shortlisted from our national division A and division B leagues by the SFF technical department which will then select the future national team members from the competition” Mr. Ali Abdi Mohamed told the media on Saturday.



He explained that the over hundred shortlisted players were divided into 6 teams sponsored by hotels and other companies which they will play by their names as kind of making advertisements for their businesses.

"This is the start of an initiative that we are going to teach the business companies present their advertisements through the beautiful game which is capable of easily making their businesses well known around the world” SFF executive committee member Ali Abdi Mohamed noted.

He said the hotels include: Global Hotel, City Palace hotel, Jazeera Palace hotel, Singjet, Nation Link Telecom and the Lido Sea Food restaurant, an international class restaurant at the Lido beach resort of Mogadishu which has in the past been well known for hosting SFF meetings.

For his part Somali Football Federation Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab told the media that the arrangement of football stars tournament was part of the national team early preparations for the near future international, regional or continental competitions.

"The early preparations will help us get talented players with high quality conditions—The SFF will draw special training programs for the latest selected players after the starts tournament has ended” Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab emphasised adding that national technical director Awil Ismail Mohamed and members of his department will be responsible for fulfilling the program.

He indicated that Somali Football Federation intends to spend all possible efforts in the team in a bid to have physically strong players with high tactics.
