The football clubs in Somalia have angrily reacted to the suspended chairman of Mogadishu port sports club Abdi Jinow Alasow who had accused the authorities of world’s football governing body FIFA, CAF and Somali football federation of what he called a “widespread mismanagement”.

In a press conference in
Mogadishu over the weekend Mr. Jinow offended the authorities of FIFA saying that FIFA, CAF and Somali Football Federation jointly embezzle what he called “Somali football property”.

In reaction, the presidents of 25 football clubs in Somalia who on Wednesday assembled at a sudden meeting in Mogadishu issued a press statement condemning the abusive words and the baseless propaganda against the world body FIFA, the African continental CAF and Somali football federation.

The chairman of Somali Football Clubs League Mohamed Hajji Abdulle Taako who read the statement to the local and international media urged Mr. Jinow to withdraw and apologize for the great mistake against world, Africa and Somali Football.

“Today we are here to express publicly our stance about the weekend’s brutal press conference by the suspended chairman of Mogadishu port club Abdi Jinow Alasow who released a statement which cannot be compatible with world Football regulations and we are totally against that man’s unwanted words” Somali Football Clubs League chairman Mohamed Haji Abdulle Taako said in a press conference after their Wednesday’s sudden assembly in Mogadishu.

He said that his league is vehemently condemning Jinow’s disgraceful statement against FIFA, CAF, Somali Football Federation and soccer clubs in Somalia.

“The sports community in Somalia and the whole world are brothers and sisters and they are all clean from apartheid, policy, and they are well known for their work in peace building, public integration and they also jointly fight against tribalism, drug abuse, child recruitment and are working to end violence in Somalia through Football for peace” he said.

“Thus we are hereby confirming that Somali Football Federation was democratically elected by us on 19th of July this year and we are satisfied with the good job that the elected SFF authorities are doing for the whole Somalia” Mr. Taako added during his press conference late on Wednesday.

“That election was historic, because it was for the first time that representatives from Somali regions, retired players and old referees were elected to the executive committee and we are very grateful to the clubs and all who helped the implementation of this historic move” he told reporters.

He said that because of that democratic election and the spread of Football throughout Somalia, the elected SFF members received congratulations from FIFA president Joseph. S. Blatter who described that election as a positive step taken toward the development of Somali Football and FIFA was happy whit how the election went place.

The Clubs league accused Mr. Jinow of stealing large sums of money allocated to develop his Mogadishu port club and its players and due to that reason he was fired from his job at Mogadishu seaport and they called him to return that money or other wise they will take him to court.

“Jiinow also broke football laws by organizing illegal meetings and conspiracy against Somali Football Federation and intended to disrupt the football activities in Somalia. He also protected the players of his club from representing Somalia in international matches and as the result from July 2010 Somali Football Federation Executive committee suspended Mr. Jinow from all football-related actives for the next four years.” Mr. Taako said in his Wednesday’s press conference.

“Once and for all, we are apologizing FIFA, CAF and Somali Football federation for the brutal and baseless propaganda by Abdi Jinow Alasow which is totally against world Football Principles” the statement said.

Finally the statement urged the local and International media outlets to encourage the unity of Somali Sporting family and go against the terrible individuals who are conspiring Somali Sport and refuse to broadcast the statements from those who are instigating violence and tribalism which is the worst disease that crippled Somalia.
