Fabio Cannavaro, the captain of the Italian team, which won the 2006 World Cup final, will convey the trophy to the Soccer City stadium of Johannesburg on Sunday before the kickoff of the final match pitting the Netherlands against Spain.
This was disclosed by FIFA spokesperson Nicolas Maingot, during a press conference on Saturday.
According to FIFA, the captain of the World Cup defending champion will now hand the trophy to the winning team. Prior to that, he would convey it on the pitch and show it to the audience and TV viewers.
