SFF President congratulates Somalis on 15th May occasion

As this week on the 15th of May 2010, Somalia Marks the 67th anniversary of the formation of Somali Youth League, a youth organization that scored Somali independence, the president of Somali football federation Mr. Said Mahmoud Nur has offered his congratulations to all Somalis where ever they are in the world, because of the precious day.


“I am sending my heart-felt greetings to all Somalis where ever they are in the world and congratulated them on the occasion of the of the 15th May, the day that a group of young patriot Somalis stood for the formation of SYL, which latter achieved in getting liberty for their home land” the Somali football federation president stated in a press statement.

 

SFF President Mr. Said Mahmoud Nur wished for Somali people to reach today year with progress, thrill, full sovereignty, prosperity, peace and stability.

 

I would like to urge the Somali people in and outside the country to show unity in their vision and actions to rebuff blatant interference undermining their independence, sovereignty and dignity” the Somali FA boss added.

It was in 1943 when 13 Somali young men established the Somali youth League which succeeded to achieve Somalia’s independence from European colony in 196, almost 17 years after its foundation.

 

The thirteen boys are still recognized as the fathers of Somali independence, while the 15th of May is commemorated as the Somali youth day. For the past several days football matches in memory of the precious day have been taking place in Mogadishu.
