Mortar fire kills Somali U 17 captain’s father

A Stray mortar fire has killed Hashi Siyad, the father of Somali U 17 football squad’s captain Mohamed Hashi Siyad, during heaving fighting between Somali government forces and Islamist militants in Mogadishu on Monday evening.


A press statement from Somali football federation said that the captain’s father was coming from Mosque after the evening prayers and as he was heading to a near by restaurant for dinner, a mortar fire rounded on him and he suddenly died on the spot.

 

The statement said that President said Mahmoud Nur and secretary General AbdiQani Said Arab on behalf of the entire members of Somali football federation are sending their heart-felt condolence message to the national U 17 team captain Mohamed Hashi Siyad for the loss of his beloved father.

 

“The condolence is for all of us, we are sharing the grievance with our national team captain and we pray to the almighty Allah to rest his father’s life in the Paradise Fardowza” said the press statement from Somali football federation.

 

The condolence book was opened at the headquarters of Somali football federation where, SFF members, players, coaches, referees and fans have been registering them selves.

 

The captain is currently in Djibouti where the U 17 Somali team members are under going daily exercises as kind of preparations for the return CAF qualifying game with Kenya U 17 which will be held in Nairobi on April 24.
